Depends on the game really.
story and lore before anything else
I'm usually ALL about the story -- mind you, I still want good game play and decent action if there is combat. Even if the story is outstanding, I'm not into turn-based games. However, give me something with lots of story and the ability to fight, then I'm very happy. A good example is The Witcher series, the Dishonored series, the Thief games, Tomb Raider games, Elder Scrolls games, etc. Some of those are more story heavy, some are more action heavy - but all of them are good balances of both.
For me it depends on the game aswell.
Into great storied games, which give you shock or a mix of emotions. Walking dead season 1 and 2 are really great story games for me. Moments when made me go DaFag!
Action games are quite common so for me its more fun when it involves multiplayer where i can play with friends. Feel the tension and excitement when things go crazy is best experienced with others.
Can't we have the best of both worlds? if i had to choose one, it'll probably be story though.
If I smell conspiracy I just have to find out...with that said, a game without a story is just a technology demo.
I have always loved games with amazing stories. I love to read, so things that have fantastic story lines and characters have always had a huge appeal to me. Uncharted for instance, has always been one of my favorites.
I prefer the story, if not i wont play any more danganronpa XD
I prefer completely the story one... I don't want an adrenaline rush in video games. A sad story which is too much even for the strongest man is something I really like!
I'm also not a big fan of adventure/action games :/
I like Both lots of action of a shooter like overwatch and titanfall 2 or a good story Like telltale games walking dead, borderlands or wolf among us. Just depends on my mood i guess.
The story makes or breaks a game for me. The lore behind it, books, video's, extended universe. Love it!
I recently got The Division's survival guide: "New York Collapse". It was amazing to read!
I like the story. Every geme needs a good story.
Really depends on what game you play. Most multiplayers don't have stories to them, but are just a fun shooter, MMO, RPG, etc.
I am not much of a fan of singleplayer games unless it is an open world where your choice could cause the final outcome in the end like Fallout 3 (Which was an amazing game and had amazing endings). Other than that it could just be a boring game were all you do is fulfill the missions and upgrade your stuff.
So I would say its 50/50 for me when it comes down to Story/Game.
I find I really need a mix of both. Most games with no story at all I find somewhat lacking, same for most pure story games (though there are a few exceptions, Tales from the Borderlands comes to mind).
I'm sucker for story but god I also love some action
Depends on the game, sometimes only the gameplay that attracts me, like The Berserk. If StoryLike will be like those JRPG games
A game without a story is like watching p*rn (mind my words lol), No plots, just for the sake of cheap entertainment and you are done, nothing worth remembering. That is exactly what call of duty has become nowadays. I dont even remember any significant worthy story-line line (except their modern warfare series, the best in their franchise really) from them anymore. Just play for the sake of killing scrubs in multiplayer
Definitely love the action, gives me a feeling I can't quite explain, but love that feeling so much
I like the story but it rarely works if you want to play with friends.
i only really like CSGO so.....
