Interesting idea for Paid to Play

We created Paid to Play primarily to allow users who don't have Razer gear a way to grind toward owning Razer gear - but I recently had an interesting message from FB on the following:

"Hi Min - I have been seeing so many complaints of Paid to Play but generally it seems to come from users who just want to get free gear and many of them just sell them on ebay anyway.

Why don't you limit it to true Razer fans who already have Razer gear (you can track via Synapse) and allow only existing customers of Razer to access Paid to Play? I'm sure you'll get a lot more positive/appreciative response?"

What do you guys think? It's a pretty good idea and generally we see our core customers being a lot more appreciative and responsive to our ways of giving back to the community.

Would need some dev work but we could potentially close it off to just rewarding our existing fans.

    Thoughts?

  2. I think it might be seen as a jerk move, the whole point is to get free razer stuff and the main complaint about razer stuff is that it it so expensive.

I think generally we had wanted to do something for those who couldn't afford our gear but we're surprised at the amount of complaints around it (which is a real surprise to me given that we're just rewarding gamers for...well, gaming).

Instead of just removing it for all, one of the options we can consider is just rewarding our core customers with an option to get more Razer gear for just playing games.

I think it would be an awesome idea. Im a long time razer fan with many products and was so close to the mug (97k) when it sold out, only to see them on ebay for rediculous amount. This way fans would get bonuses instead of scalpers who leave their pc on games overnight for profit.

That sounds like a lot of work but tracking through synapse sounds fun lol
I think Razer products "buyers" should get the perks, but non-buyers should also get something. Just not as much.
    People being greedy is normal.

Yes make it limited only to Fan, agree! There's no point being generous to poeple who still complains rewards shipment fee. Or make double zSilver rewards for systems owner;) So poeple who bought the system could enjoy their merits buying Razer Blade:)

I completely agree with the suggestion.

Also, is there really no plan to make the Chroma Mug available for purchase? That was the only item I was looking forward to since the rest can be purchased. Though even if I reached the amount when it was still available, I wouldn't been able to redeem it anyway since zSilver Rewards is only available to limited countries even if Razerzone is available here. On that note, when would the rewards be available to most of Asia Pacific and Russia?

  8. Sounds good to me, maybe give more zSilver boosts for each product perhaps??

Perhaps the idea of splitting the rate of zSilver accumulation would work indeed. Something like 1x rate for non-Razer users and 2x rate for Razer users?
This way it's win-win for both sides: if you are in the Razer community, you will score more, and if you aren't you will get at least something until you get your first Razer item.

Agree, i saw quite many poeple on YouTube got it, and a lot of from them also not Razer fans (from their other brands mice keyboard and laptops i can recognize it). In eBay, i think a lot of poeple who sell it are also not a Fan.

I completly agree with the suggestions as well. It rewards people who already trusted the brand enough to buy them some products, and as a users I think it is awesome that a brand allow you to have acces to some rewards for using their products. Also, I'm not a pro on the subject, but isn't there a way for Razer to gain precious informations with the tracking ? I don't know maybe what games your customers play the most or the setup we are using on our products (mouse sensibility, chroma profile,whatever.. ). +1 Min-Liang.

Its a very good suggestion Min! As far as synapse goes...is that tracking where you put in product info or synapse compatible devices? Either way, great idea! This is a very generous way of rewarding those loyal to your brand.

Also, Thank you for letting us have input on these kind of ideas.

totally agree with this idea.... but you must be careful on setting a limit how much razer product we should have so we can start earning zsilver...

honestly, i only have one razer which is my orochi, and then through your zsilver idea, i just redeemed the firefly...
and i'm planning on redeem other's through zsilver since my salary is not enough to purchase razer item and go trough tough life....

I think it wouldn't be cool to do that. Some peoples who are really interested in acquiring a razer product like "for real" and not reselling on ebay AND do not have so much money would have a way to buy a razer product, with time and motivation. That's the current use of cortex for some guys I think.

For me, I already own a tons of razer stuff, but earning zSilver is for me a challenge and a way to save some money by trying to get that backpack for almost free.

Razer Should not close that door that could allow more people to become a part of the razer cult's community.

I Think its too bad to close a service to get more positive feedback.

I'm supportive of the idea. Most people who are hardcore gamers would have Razer gear - be it a mouse, keyboard, headset or mousepad. I think this is a great way to keep those who are abusing the system out.

What were the complaints though? It would be better to research that before closing off Cortex to "Outsiders". For example a lot of people don't like the new system where only 5 games a month are eligible for getting zSilver. If most complaints are about that, it should be clearer what can be done.

I agree with this. Limit it to users who actually use razer peripherals. They're the only ones who should be getting rewarded anyway.

Not the Logitech and corsair fanboys who only sign up for the program to grub free stuff, while bashing razer on youtube and in forums about how terrible their products are and how expensive it is, the hypocrites.

    They shouldn't get anything.

Then they can go whine to Logitech and corsair for a paid to play program and see what those companies tell them.

This will not solve the problem! They will start creating fake accounts. You need to really think about and understand how you can change the situation for the better, for the fans of your company. Sorry for my english

Это не решит проблему! Они начнут создавать поддельные аккаунты. Нужно вас в компании реально обдумать и понять как можно изменить ситуацию к лучшему, именно для поклонников вашей компании.

They really wouldn't be able to do anything even if they create fake accounts since you'll need to have a Razer peripheral connected to your PC before anything is registered in Synapse.

How is a fake account gonna help? It'll be tracked thru synapse anyway which detects the razer peripherals.

Its good for razer anyway, it'll force the corsair and Logitech fanboys to purchase razer items to participate and actually try them instead of blindly bad mouthing razer all over the place just because they're loyal to their brand.
