    I am bummed that I sold my other notebook prematurely to buy the RB....and now I think I might just buy a XPS13 or something for work and use the RB for entertainment...but I really think I shouldn´t need two machines and one should suffice for work and entertainment, especially investing 2k. The more I am aware of the fan noise, the more it bothers me and I can´t concentrate when working....hehe... I blame this threat because when I got the RB last year I didn´t even notice the fans that much, then I starting reading this thread and then all of sudden it started bugging me more and more.:eek_:

    it was not designed to have a fan stuck on full speed ... it was not designed to have a ec fix fuckin up the whole fan curves .. thats not a design choice .. that was a bad mistake they made with the ec 4.0 fix mine startet freaking out after that fix .. and many others too

    actually most of us here have the left fan ( cpu one ) stuck at 30% while the right one chills at around 10% or less ( what actually is pretty fine in terms of noise for me .. ) the left one is anoying -.-... it ramps up like the right one when it needs to but the minimum speed seems to be set at 40% -.-

    You could try to undervolt to squeeze 70%. But I would be totally fine with 50% or 60% and having a passive running system. I bet you won't notice any difference in performance during every day work and actually your battery will also run longer. Perhaps I will buy the 2017 model... will need to see if can get hands on a US keyboard here in EU. Hate the German layout (even being German)

    So I ended up using my MS Complete warranty for this issue, citing that as a programmer the loud idle noise is too much of an issue.

    Got the new one and it's very nice with the fans being off on idle. Makes me think my old one might have been used as it had other issues. Cord had shown signs of wear, touchpad had permanent blemishes, SSD performance was a third of what I have now (3300/1500 or something like that). None of those issues in the new one. Also, in the new blade hitting FN makes the FN keys highlight as white instead of blue.

    Good luck with ya'll on this issue.

    new one what ? from 6700 to 7700k ? or what model ? . the fans being off in idle on the model this thread is about is not normal right now .. if you have the 6700k than you either have a version with a fix installed that we still dont have .. or you have a defective one .. or somehow its just so amazing silent that it brings up a new point that makes me ask why is yours so quiet that you think the fan is off lol .. why are our models so loud, and why didn rma help us all here ..

    I think he got the new "Kabylake" one right? If not someone from official staff would already give a response here.

    The skylake model also does this when pressing the FN key.
    I am glad you managed to get your skylake swapped for the kabylake model. Most of us are out of luck with that option.

    Did you get yours through MS store? For my next laptop I will definitely go through MS store, since I only hear great things about their CS and extended warranty. I got mine through Amazon in November, so I am way past the return date, unfortunately.

    @WaschBaer, I went Sky -> Kaby.

    Wow surprised that the Sky also did white on FN. Gives me more reason to think my old one was secretly refurb or used. This new one is so much smoother on the trackpad. I think my old one might have had driver issues. I couldn't horizontal scroll on that one but can on the new one.

    wow gratz on that .. -.- .. apperantly with me having it from second hand and the first guy had it from razer directly .. i cant contact windows for replacement :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye: so i need to wait for a fix -.-... now i have a dead bearing on one fan .. i can reduze a takling noise when gently hitting the side of the fan ..-.-... but it also seems to be consistant noise even when i ramp up or down the fan .. that makes me think that its not the bearing .. -.-.. i cant replace it inside warranty cause i need the laptop for studying i cant give it away for longer than 2 days.. also i would lost all my skins ( razer support guy said they get riped of .. even when they just need to change a fuckin fan .. rlly ? ) .. i have to send it in for warranty in summer and exactly at the time when i dont need it and have a pause from studiying the warranty expired 3 days ago .. so rip ..

    woow really ? :D .. lol .. speedfan does not work on most laptops and not on this one .. they would have to make profiles for every laptop available cause all use different tech to control fans .. :/ so no way but nbfc works for me now with the command promt fix disabling action on 0% battery :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

    Is nbfc causing random win 10 crashes for you. When I had it installed it would crash my system. What profile are you using? Can you provide links to what you downloaded? If your not experiencing crashes.

    i had no crashes and im using it for 3 days now :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye: no hibernate no shutdowns using this command
    To change the 'Battery->Critical battery action->'On battery' setting to "Do nothing" using powercfg.exe
    1. activate the power scheme you want to modify.
    2. open an elevated command console (windows key, type 'cmd' in start menu, press "ctrl+shift+enter", click 'continue')
    3. execute "powercfg -setdcvalueindex SCHEME_CURRENT SUB_BATTERY BATACTIONCRIT 0"
    4. your current power scheme will show "Battery->Critical battery action->On battery: Do nothing" despite the option being unavailable in the drop box.
    on battery ->powercfg -setdcvalueindex SCHEME_CURRENT SUB_BATTERY BATACTIONCRIT 0
    on charger ->powercfg -setacvalueindex SCHEME_CURRENT SUB_BATTERY BATACTIONCRIT 0

    this profile for nbfc ( mine i modified it for my needs .. fan speeds may be to low for yours ! better test it with a bench tool getting some heat and stuff ) .. :
