I have a very specific problem and i havent been able of finding a solution online. My problem is that i wanted to use my laptop as a desktop. so i bought everything from monitor to keyboard and mouse . But my problem came when i activated a setting that lets me close my computer without it going into rest mode . And it is actualy doing so but when i close it the wifi connection stops working almost at all. Do you have any suggestions?

Really would appreciate any help from you guys.

I dont understand why you would want your laptop closed in the first place. Ive had a laptop used as a desktop, and done the whole extra screen, mouse, keyboard, headset etc. The problem with it is that the laptop will overheat guaranteed. Most laptops pull in air from in front of the screen, and when it is closed it is unable to do so. Also, I dont understand why you would want to remove an extra screen from the equation, as I would often use my laptop screen for discord and skype.

That's an interesting question. I haven't tested this with my various laptops, but at work, we have a laptop in a dock, with the laptop, keyboard, mouse and monitor all connected to the dock. When the laptop lid is closed down, everything still functions with no issues.. granted, instead of WiFi, there is an ethernet cable also attached to the dock.. I wonder if the dock was the solution?

The work laptop was a Lenono ThinkPad using some sort of Lenovo dock.

Not sure if I got what's your problem, but if closing the lid is your problem, you can change settings in Power Options (Windows 7 - 10) under the "Choose what closing the lid does" (I am writing this looking on properties on Windows 7, but it's something similar on Windows 10). There you can choose "Do nothing" under "When I close the lid".
Currently your wifi connection stops working because your PC goes into hybernate or sleep mode.

Closing the lid on a laptop reduces the WiFi signal strength as the antenna is looped around the screen. This can cause packet loss and/or disconnection. I would recommend using a wired network.
