  1. Thanks..

Would you describe the fans as silent at idle or light office work?

My best with my previous was north of 9700 actually. I had one of the good units. But the extra jump with Kaby lake has made a difference enough to make me happy. Glad to see some smiling faces around here again.

I was sitting in the high 70s for CPU and GPU. They fluctuated from test to test depending on what was being stressed. Laptop was not at max fan rpm during FS. I have only heard max fan during WoW when the GPU hit 80c. Otherwise fan noise was quieter during gaming than my Sky Blade. Keep in mind this is with fan profile set to AUTO. I am telling you guys exactly what I'm seeing no guarantee it won't change after day 1. I have high hopes though.

Other than when they kick in occasionally to cool off the machine yes I would describe them as silent. Or if you are REALLY nit picking things I can at least say VERY very quiet. However again this is on AUTO setting. There is a low and high profile as well. I have yet to really mess with them.

What was your score without the OC?

When I did mine I got: (just Windows update & Geforce 378.66)
    1st score = 9232
    2nd score = 9156
    3rd score = 9338 (w/o GeForce Experience)

Also, I noticed a clicking sound when I turn mine on. Do you have that as well? I did not have that on my previous blades.

  4. I am returning my Blade QHD and getting this one. Any word on the screen? How do you like the FHD for office work. Thank you for replying back.

Have you undervolted the CPU? Usually that will drop temps.

There was my score with nothing touched. Notice Physics score is still good so we know it was only due to GPU changes that made the difference.

As far as clicking.. I do not experience that on my blade.

Ok so BF1 with all settings maxed and render res at 100 I was able to maintain 60fps + no issues. I Then cranked render res to 125% and I was still overall able to stay above 50fps so very similar to my Sky blade. One thing to note.. BF1 runs pretty hot. I compared it to Sky Blade and it was similar temps. It's just the game as far as i'm concerned. Gpu was high 70s peaked at 80c and CPU was high 80s peaked at 90c. Generally CPU was mid to high 80s. I have yet to undervolt and I know that will help. Just to note, I ran HWINFO 64 during my gameplay and despite the temps there was zero thermal throttling on any level. Overall still a good experience.

I also tried Witcher 3 and with everything on Ultra and HW on I was sitting between 30-45fps. With HW Turned off I was 45FPS-60 depending on scene. This is in line with other 1060s and the temps were much lower than BF1. GPU capped around 77c and CPU was in mid 70s never touched 80.

Edit: Just gave the Divison a shot on ultra and was sitting at 55-60+fps also a good experience. temps a little lower than BF1 but higher than Witcher.

I do and I will sure! After dinner :)

Always forget if editing my post will notify you.. so just posted again. Overwatch ran great. I had everything maxed out (epic) and was running render res at 150% (basically like running in 2k res) and was hovering between 60-75fps during whole game. No issues or stuttering. Usually I run with Vsync on because that game gets terrible tearing. You should stay capped at 60fps with render res at 150% for extra quality. Solid temps as well!

Just wondering, has the battery life improved at all from the skylake version?

No. In most cases, the MS Store will REPLACE your Blade with a new one, or give you a full refund, or even exchange for the newer model, if they can't fix it within 24 hours.

  13. This was totally not the protocol for me and I just sent in my laptop last week.

Even if you buy the MS Complete warranty. Within the first year they have to use Razer's warranty. So effectively you pay 99 USD for a year of protection.

Could this be because the Blade isn't in stock anymore at MS? I thought that MS sends the laptop to Razer so you don't have to deal with Razer directly? Regardless, I decided to just buy the newest Blade from Razer and either pay them for the 2nd year warranty or use my credit card extended warranty. Fingers crossed. My current Blade has been flawless.

Can you even buy the MS warranty if you purchase through Razer? Or do you mean buy second year warranty through Razer? I was unaware they even still offer that extended warranty.

Sorry, I meant I'd try to buy a 2nd year of coverage through Razer. If they even offer it, I'm not sure. Buying from MS store makes returns / exchanges easy but that's it, in my mind. This time I'm fine buying through Razer and accept any risk, since I have my current laptop to use if I need to RMA and won't be laptop-less.

Ok that makes sense. Pretty sure Razer stopped offering the extended warranty. It was like 200-300 dollars anyways. I'm so tempted to try and return mine for another without any LCD backlight bleed but it's always rolling the dice when it comes to that. My 34 inch ultra wide 4K monitor even has some I just deal with it.

You likely won't find one with zero backlight bleed. Mine has minor bleed as does my brother's. You could get one with a pink tint like I did before with my 1st Blade. Or dead pixels. Monitors have brought out OCD in me that I didn't know existed. I've gone through at least 20 of the high refresh gaming IPS monitors since late 2015 due to defects and the one that I kept broke. So now I use a quality LG 4K IPS monitor with almost non-existent bleed. My rule of thumb is if the bleed is only barely visible on solid black backgrounds, in a dark room, I keep the screen / monitor.

Yea I am pretty much convinced to keep it. I'll send pics later to show you. I just noticed it while playing dishonored 2 last night and I have such OCD. Just kills me my Sky Blade was flawless and the Kaby is flawless minus the stupid bleed! Oh well. Like you said it could be worse.

Here's pics side by side of Sky and Kaby Blade screen. The pics actually make the Sky look like it has some bleed but you can't see any normally.

That's a tough call. Maybe give it a week and see? If it bothers you during normal use I'd consider exchanging. But again, it's a lottery.
