these look amazing!
I really want a pair of these......
i need a new set wireless earbuds
Greetings everyone again!
I ordered and received the new Razer Hammerhead BT headset and since I have it now for about a week or maybe a little more I gathered enough experiences with them so that I can share my 2 cents for people who are wondereing about wether to buy them or not:
Before i start, I need to state that the earbuds i had before were - as far as i can remeber - were sony XBA-30 and as long as they lasted, i was quite happy with them. i had them for several years and i was very satisfied with their playback quality but was disappointed with their wearing comfort (especially running with them wasn't too great). I never used a BT based headphone set before.
They broke down two days before i received the announcement of the razer hammerhead bt headset so i figured that's fate and I ordered the Hamerhead BT...
In my opinion, the craftsmanship of the headset as well as the different addons that come with the box (like different caps that go on top of the earbuds as well as the carrying case) all are of very high quality; everything feels really thought out and extremely well made. Also the cables themselves have a very durable feel to them - i hope they will live up to that with a long life! Also, the box that everything comes in is of expected razer quality - it's a nice experience to open up the pack.
The headset itself is very lightweight and feels extremely comfortable while wearing it - i actually cannot even feel any weight of the earbuds or any cable attached to it at all (let alone the battery) - and even while running, the earbuds stay snugly in my ears.
I had to swap the caps before they would fit - i cannot imagine ears where the default caps would fit (but there probably are ) but after trying all the different caps I found one size that fit ferfectly.
The mecahnism to "clasp" the headset to your shirt is a magnet that you attach to the battery and you clasp the top of the back collar of your shirt between the magnet and the battery. What you'd imagine to be a very whacky setup actually works really well, holds fast even while running and takes away virtually all the weight strain you'd normally have from a headset. I have long hair and it took a little bit of practice as you have to affix it to your shirt behind your neck and not catching any hair in between, but after a few tries you can do it in your sleep.
Battery life - wow - i managed to squeeze more than the promised 8 hrs out of my first charge (!) - i did not yet have to charge it a third time.
I do not know wether it is mentioned on the website or not but the charging cable is a standard micro-usb - so very hassle-free there.
The sound is really good as well. Bass is very deep and satisfying, and songs sound really great. There are some issues with higher-pitched vocal frequencies (especially if they are mixed in reverb or chorus) in my opinion (as in - i do not experience them as prominently as in the sony headset i had) but other than that i would say the sound is very good.
The headset is sold as non-noise-cancellation ... well... actually for me it does block out outside noise just as much as I would like it - i do not feel the need to buy a noise cancellation headset as the Hammerhead makes the outside world go away when you put them on just right.
The outside of the earbuds (what other people would see while oyu wear them) pulses a constant green at the razer logo when the headset is powered on - I would love to see a way to configure the lightning (as in - turn it off like you can with the ios hammerhead) but that option is missing.
The control piece of the headset also feels very durable and is made in such a way that you can use it even if you have a sweaty hand from running; the buttons feel somewhat hard to press tough, you need to use quite a bit of force to actually push them.
All in all, i am very happy with the headset, i would give it a straight 9 out of 10 and I really hope it will last years to come.
I hope this small review is helpful to anyone here and If you have any questions, feel free to ask and I shall try to answer!
Can't wait for a video about this. Does it include any carrying pouch?
Yes it does!
These look sick. Would like to get a set. I'll have to wait and see what people think of their performance.
Whoa that's awesome that you can customize the lighting too! I hope one for android comes out
Greetings and sorry - you can not customize, to my knowledge, the lightning if the Bluetooth headset. Only the Hammmerhead for IOS (with the lightning jack) have that feature.
Anyone having issues with their Hammerhead BTs when using certain programs? When I try and talk on Discord I can't hear anything if I'm using the mic in the headset, though all other sounds from the computer will work. If I disable the mic and use another mic I can hear. It's incredibly strange. Also I've found that Friday the 13th won't transmit sound at all if I'm using the headset once I join a game.
is it already available? in every online store that i check it is all out of stock. damn i would like to get that Hammerhead of IOS. it would be freaking awesome while you a riding the bus home and your earbuds is lightning up. looks cool if they have chroma thou.
People still use apple products?! ... huh, weirdy
Lighting on a earphones? Nice.
This is what I need the whole time, thank you!
Flat wire looks so great! My apple EarPod wire gets so crumpled and ruins the signal! Looking to get my hands on some of these for sure
